APPRENTICESHIP

Training is received through a three-year Apprenticeship at the Riggers, Machinery Movers & Machinery Erectors Local 136.

The Apprenticeship is recognized by the United States Department of Labor (DOL).

During this three-year Apprenticeship:

  • Apprentices attend school 208 hours a year
  • Work 700 to 1500 hours per year
  • Starting wage is 70% of Journeyman’s wage as established by the collective bargaining agreement
  • Wage increases are based on completion of on-the-job training hours and school hours
  • Benefits include health care, pension and annuity.

Skills Needed

The skills needed to perform this work are acquired through training.It is a combination of on-the-job training and training at the Apprentice & Training School for Local 136.Training is available for both Journeymen and Apprentices.

ENROLL ONLINE

Applicants will be contacted when the next process will take place. Information will be maintained until that time and communicated with applicant.

PROCESS

  • Applicants will be required to take an aptitude test. Study Guide is available for purchase when they register.
  • Applicants will be interviewed by the Examining Committee and Contractors later.
  • Must have reliable transportation to the job sites and to school.
  • At the time of selection, applicants must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Applicants are required to have a physical; documentation is required.

WELDING

Welding shop is open for practice, training of apprentices and journeymen as well as for certification of welders.
